Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, Northern Michigan Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, Physicians Assistants, and health care professionals have worked endless hours to provide safe, high quality care to you, our community. McLaren Northern Michigan has led the way in urging community members to protect themselves, their neighbors, and loved ones during the worst health crisis of our lifetime.
“You wear your mask to protect me, I wear my mask to protect you.”
This simple action has and can continue to save lives. We need to work together to be vigilant and follow the guidelines and precautions that have been set forth based on science and evidence. After months of following stay at home orders, wearing masks, good hand hygiene, and physical distancing, we have seen our COVID-19 infection and death rates decline.
Now as Michigan has been reopening; we are seeing more people abandoning the actions that helped decrease the spread of COVID-19. One of the most important things that you can do to help protect our community is to follow the guidelines for your own health and wellness and to make good judgments. It is a minor inconvenience to wear a mask, but by doing so you are helping protect the most vulnerable among our community.
This is why as physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and medical professionals we are urging you, our friends and neighbors, to follow these steps to stop the spread of the virus:
- wearing a face mask
- maintaining physical distancing
- washing your hands frequently
- getting your influenza vaccination every year
COVID-19 is not behind us, we have months and possibly even years ahead of us. The time frame and severity of this pandemic rests on the shoulders of each and every one of us. Our collective actions today will help determine the impact in Northern Michigan and the Eastern UP.
Here is our promise… each name on this letter will continue to follow and practice the guidelines set forth. We promise to wear our masks and be advocates to the health and safety of others.
To those of you who are following the guidelines and protecting your family, friends, and neighbors, thank you. You are helping to save lives and stop the spread of COVID-19. To those of you who are not yet doing so, there’s no time like now to set a good example for our community.
The only way we are going to get through this pandemic is together.
