McLaren Northern Michigan has received the American Heart Association and American Stroke Association Get With the Guidelines – Stroke Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award with Target Stroke Honor Roll Elite Plus recognition, the highest rating a facility can receive.
The award demonstrates McLaren Northern Michigan’s commitment to quality care and best treatment for stroke patients based on nationally recognized and research-based guidelines.
To receive Gold Plus status, a hospital must demonstrate at least 85 percent compliance in 7 Get With the Guidelines – stroke achievement measures for at least 24 consecutive months. The Honor Roll Elite Plus recognition is given when a hospital accomplishes at least 75 percent or higher achievement in providing tPA, an IV treatment given to dissolve clots and improve blood flow, within one hour of reaching hospital doors and 50 percent of patients must receive within 45 minutes.
“We are proud to be one of only four hospitals in Michigan, and the only one in northern Michigan, to receive the top recognitions for stroke care,” stated Elaine Siwiec, RN, BSN, Stroke Coordinator at McLaren Northern Michigan. “It demonstrates the quality care our patients receive.”
