McLaren Oakland, the 318-bed, Pontiac-based primary and specialty care hospital serving all of Oakland County, has named Laura Harmon, DNP, ACNP-BC, CCRN as its vice president of patient care services and chief nursing officer. Harmon assumes the position which had been vacant since the summer when the previous CNO left the McLaren system.
Harmon brings more than 30 years of experience to the role, beginning her career in a clinical setting before earning leadership positions of increasing responsibility.

Harmon will provide administrative leadership, oversight and clinical support to the hundreds of nurses at McLaren Oakland hospital and McLaren Clarkston health care campus, creating a positive, collaborative and encouraging patient-centric environment.

Harmon brings executive experience to McLaren Oakland. She most recently served as an associate chief nursing officer covering multiple facilities, overseeing the patient care services for an entire inpatient health care campus. She began her career, though, as a nurse directly providing patient care after earning her nursing degree from Oakland University. She progressed in her education, earning a Master’s in Nursing from Wayne State University and a Doctor of Nursing Practice from Oakland.
