The McLaren Cheboygan Campus Guild was formed in 1958. And, while they have undergone name changes over the years, their mission remains the same… to support healthcare services in Cheboygan. Over $163,000 has been raised to support the McLaren Northern Michigan Cheboygan Campus. “The Guild is an incredible asset to the Cheboygan community and we are thankful for their support,” said Shari Schult, Vice President of Operations at McLaren Northern Michigan.
The Guild recently approved $28,870 of the money they raised to enhance patient care at the McLaren Northern Michigan Cheboygan Campus. Specifically, the Guild approved funding three iPads which will provide visual tools to explain a procedure to a patient, improve patient education at discharge, and allow patients to listen to music. New eye surgical instruments and an instrument tray stand were approved to expand the outpatient surgical offerings. In addition, the funds are being used to support facility improvements, including new automatic doors for outpatient therapy and an awning over the surgical entrance.
The majority of the money raised came from the Guild’s most successful fundraiser yet, the Taste of Up North/Peace Pole Auction. Over 200 community members attended the sold out fundraiser on August 23, 2018 at Fernelius Toyota Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram showroom. Local artists donated thirty-seven hand crafted peace poles which were auctioned off, raising $28,600.
The giving doesn’t stop there. The Guild supported the Cheboygan County Patient Assistance fund with $4,075 raised at the annual Christmas Shopping Spree, and the Cheboygan Hospice House with over $1,800 raised from a Memorial Day weekend yard sale.
