Social distance in the emergency room by using this online check in tool

Emergencies happen, even during COVID-19. With social distancing on everyone's mind, McLaren Greater Lansing wants you to know there are ways you can spend less time in the waiting room when you need immediate care.

If you have a life-threatening emergency, you should always call 911, but for your needs that are less severe, you can check in online to save your spot and wait at home until it's your time to be seen.

It only takes a few minutes to reserve your spot when you visit mclaren.org/LansingER. You'll be given an estimated time to arrive, and you can even receive a text message letting you know when McLaren's team is almost ready for you.

When you arrive for your appointment, you'll notice updated safety measures throughout your visit.

McLaren is cleaning high-touch areas even more frequently and changed its waiting areas to allow for easier social distancing. Everyone entering the hospital, including staff, is being screened for COVID-19 symptoms and is wearing a mask.

"When you arrive, you'll go through a screening process where our staff decides where to send you within the emergency department," said Dr. Christine Perry, emergency medical director at McLaren Greater Lansing. "We have safe areas in our emergency department that have been without COVID-19 patients that we use for those who need other kinds of care."

McLaren is following the latest guidelines from the CDC as the fight against COVID-19 continues.
