Following months of planning and consideration, St. Luke’s Hospital in Maumee, Ohio and McLaren Health Care have officially signed a letter of intent to define ways that the two organizations will work together to best meet the needs of the communities they serve. The letter of intent was signed on Dec. 4 at St. Luke’s Hospital, a 312-bed facility serving Maumee, Ohio and the surrounding communities.
As part of the potential integration, McLaren Health Care plans to make significant investments in St. Luke’s Hospital to enhance services and strengthen and grow the hospital’s presence in the community. Plans include building a cancer center – affiliated with the National Cancer Institute-designated Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute; building an orthopedic, neuro and spine center; upgrades to the infrastructure of the hospital, such as renovating the intensive care center, surgical suites; and more.

The evaluation process for the integration is expected to last several months and to be completed by mid-year after final board and regulatory approvals.
