A practitioner of osteopathic manipulative medicine treats musculoskeletal pain and other conditions through the manual or physical readjustment of bones and muscle tissue. Typically known as an osteopath, this type of doctor primarily focuses on areas of the back, neck, shoulders, and head, but may apply techniques to other areas of the body when needed. The approach to this type of care is one based on understanding how one part of the body may affect another.
