Breast Density – What You Need to Know

WDIV Local 4 On June 1, 2015, Michigan joined more than 20 other states across the country requiring that a letter be sent following a mammogram if the patient has dense breasts. This is to inform the patient of their breast density and also encourage follow-up with their physician should the doctor recommend additional screening, especially if they are at high risk for breast cancer. Zeynep Yilmaz-Saab, M.D., breast radiologist at Karmanos, did a recent interview with WDIV Local 4 explaining breast density.
