  • WDIV Local 4 On June 1, 2015, Michigan joined more than 20 other states across the country requiring that a letter be sent following a mammogram if the patient has dense breasts. This is to inform the patient of their breast density and also encourage follow-up with their physician should the doctor recommend additional screening, especially if they are at high risk for breast cancer. Zeynep Yilmaz-Saab, M.D., breast radiologist at Karmanos, did a recent interview with WDIV Local 4 explaining breast density.

  • Ammar Sukari, M.D., medical oncologist and leader of the Head and Neck Multidisciplinary Team at Karmanos Cancer Institute, has family members in Aleppo, Syria. Dr. Sukari was recently interviewed by WDIV Local 4’s Paula Tutman as part of a special story to raise awareness of how people in Michigan can help those in Aleppo. “It was not easy to tell my personal, sad story,” said Dr. Sukari. “I hoped to give a voice for the voiceless and bring more attention to the Syrian tragedy – a humanitarian crisis.
