MGL ER Virtual Care Pilot Program

We are excited to announce that we launched our new ER Virtual Care Pilot Program, Monday, June 2, 2025. This innovative service is designed to significantly improve patient flow, reduce wait times for non-urgent cases, and enhance the overall patient experience in our Emergency Department.

We plan to offer the ER Virtual Care Pilot Program to patients on Mondays and Tuesdays from

2 to 6 p.m., with the goal of offering this program during high ER census times. Because of this, the dates and times may fluctuate as we re-evaluate and adjust to the patient/staff response and needs.

What is ER Virtual Care?

The program will allow us to connect patients whose conditions are assessed as non-urgent or non-life-threatening with a licensed provider for a real-time virtual (video) visit directly within our ER.

How It Benefits Our Patients and Our Department:

  • Faster Access to Care: Patients can see a provider quickly, decreasing patients leaving before they are seen.
  • Reduced ER Overcrowding: By diverting suitable patients to virtual care, we can free up beds and in-person provider time for more critical cases.
  • Enhanced Patient Satisfaction: Decreased time to address health care concerns leads to increased patient satisfaction.
  • Efficient Resource Utilization: Optimizes the use of our ER resources.
