Internal Medicine Residency - McLaren Greater Lansing

Application Method

The McLaren Greater Lansing Internal Medicine Residency Program only accepts applications through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). Paper applications or emailed applications will not be accepted.

Minimum Entrance Requirements

• U.S. Citizen or hold a valid green card
  - MGL does not sponsor or accept visa candidates
• Passing score on first attempt of all USMLE/COMLEX scores
  - Minimum COMLEX Step 1 score = 425
  - Minimum USMLE Step 1 score = 205
• Completion of medical school within 4 years, no educational related extensions

Passing scores for Step 1 and both parts of Step 2 are required prior to the rank list due date.

• 3 or more letters of recommendation

Interviews

Virtual interviews will be conducted this year through Thalamus for eleven positions. No in-person interviews will be offered.

Below are the minimum annual scholarly activity requirements for the program. Each resident is encouraged to exceed the minimum requirements to create an environment of inquiry in his/her own personal practice.

Conference Presentation

Each resident is required to submit an Abstract for an Oral or Case Presentation to a regional conference every year of residency or fellowship in collaboration with his/her faculty mentor.

Research Projects

Each resident/fellow is required to participate in an active research project. Upon completion, the resident/fellow is expected to submit an Abstract to a Peer-Reviewed Journal for potential publication.

Quality Improvement

Each resident/fellow must be active in Quality Improvement and Patient Safety initiatives. The resident/fellow must work with his/her faculty mentor and design/execute a QI project.
