Application Method

If Internal Medicine is your passion and becoming a resident at McLaren Bay Region interests you, please fill out this interest form. We will contact you as soon as we start accepting applicants for the July 2024 positions.

For positions starting July 1, 2024, we will be able to accept applications through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) soon. Once we are able to accept applications in ERAS, we will update this section of the website as well as reach out to anyone who submitted their interest through the form above.

McLaren Bay Region Internal Medicine Residency Program participates in the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) National Resident Match Program (NRMP) and will only accept applications through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). Paper applications are not accepted.

Required Documents for Application

• A completed ERAS Application within the required timeline
• Curriculum Vitae (CV)
• 3 or more medical school letters of recommendation
• Passing scores on the USMLE Step 1, Step 2 CK, and Step 2 CS or COMLEX Step 1 and Step 2 prior to medical school graduation
• (ECFMG certificate is required at the start of Residency)

Selection Process

Applicants are reviewed by the resident recruitment committee; those applicants who meet or exceed our criteria may be considered for an interview.

Eligible applicants will be selected on the basis of their preparedness, ability, aptitude, academic credentials, communication skills and personal qualities such as motivation and integrity.

All applicants must have US citizenship or legal residency status in the US (green card or refugee status) in order to be eligible for an interview. Visas are not sponsored.

Interviews

Interviews will be held virtually only. Applicants meeting the selection criteria will be contacted for interviews by email. Interviews are typically held in November, December, and January. During interviews, applicants will have the opportunity to meet with our Program Director, faculty, and residents.

Residents will demonstrate dissemination of scholarship within the program by a variety of methods, i.e. presenting in journal club, morbidity and mortality conference, case conferences and program workshops. Residents are also encouraged to present and publish their scholarly activity.

All residents must complete a minimum of one QI and one research project by end of residency.

Residents must meet all of the ACGME requirements including:
