Located in Lansing, Michigan—just steps from the vibrant campus of Michigan State University—our ACGME-accredited, university-affiliated program offers an exciting opportunity to be part of something new and impactful. Accredited in 2025, we’re preparing to welcome our inaugural class in 2026.

Our three-year residency combines the strengths of community-based emergency medicine with a strong academic and scholarly foundation. As a resident, you'll gain hands-on clinical experience in a supportive environment while benefiting from the vast educational resources of the Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine Statewide Campus System (MSUCOM/SCS). This connection provides access to a rich network of academic support, mentorship, and learning opportunities to help you thrive both during residency and beyond.

The McLaren Greater Lansing Emergency Department offers residents the opportunity to train in a new, state-of-the-art facility that supports high-acuity care and advanced procedures. As an ACS-certified Level III Trauma Center, as well as a designated Percutaneous Coronary Intervention Center and Primary Stroke Center, our ED provides a robust environment for developing critical emergency medicine skills.

The department features 37 private treatment rooms, including multiple Trauma/Resuscitation Bays, Virtual Urgent Care Rooms, a dedicated Fast Track Unit, and a secure Observational Unit. Serving a diverse patient population of approximately 40,000 visits annually, our ED gives residents exposure to a wide range of clinical presentations across all socioeconomic backgrounds.

Over the course of our three-year program, residents gain comprehensive experience through core rotations in MICU, PICU, Trauma, Pediatric Emergency Medicine, Toxicology, EMS, OB/Gyn, Ultrasound, Internal Medicine, Radiology, Anesthesia, Research, and Administration. You'll also have the flexibility to pursue a variety of elective rotations that match your interests and career goals. Our program is proud to maintain strong affiliations with renowned institutions, including the Children’s Hospital of Michigan and the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center, offering our residents exposure to high-acuity cases and leading-edge practices in emergency medicine

At McLaren Greater Lansing, our Emergency Medicine Residency Program is dedicated to developing compassionate, highly skilled emergency physicians through hands-on, diverse clinical training, innovative education, and an unwavering commitment to excellence in patient care.
