Internal Medicine Residency - McLaren Port Huron

Application Method

With the exception of the 2024 MATCH season, McLaren Port Huron Internal Medicine Residency Program participates in the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) National Resident Match Program (NRMP) and will only accept applications through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). Paper applications are not accepted.

Required Documents for Application

• A completed ERAS Application within the required timeline
• Curriculum Vitae (CV)
• 3 or more medical school letters of recommendation
• Passing scores on the USMLE Step 1, Step 2 CK, and Step 2 CS or COMLEX Step 1 and Step 2 prior to medical school graduation
• ECFMG certificate is required at the start of Residency (if applicable)

Selection Process

• Applicants are reviewed by the resident selection committee; those applicants who meet or exceed our criteria may be considered for an interview.
• Eligible applicants will be selected on the basis of their preparedness, ability, aptitude, academic credentials, communication skills and personal qualities such as motivation and integrity.
• McLaren Port Huron will not discriminate with regard to sex, age, race, religion, color, national origin, disability or veteran status.
• All applicants must have US citizenship or legal residency status in the US (green card or refugee status) in order to be eligible for an interview. Visas are not sponsored.

Interviews

Interviews will be held virtually only. Applicants meeting the selection criteria will be contacted for interviews through Thalamus or email only. Interviews are typically held in November, December, and January. During interviews, applicants will have the opportunity to meet with our Program Director and faculty.

Every resident is expected to complete at minimum: presentation at grand rounds, participation in a QI project, lead a QI project, and a scholarly project of the resident's choice.
