Obtaining Your Medical Records

A complete inpatient, outpatient surgery or emergency record of each patient's care, treatment and progress is kept in the Medical Records Department. You have the right to expect that medical information regarding your care will be treated as confidential, and

McLaren Greater Lansing has the obligation to safeguard your records against unauthorized disclosure.

Release of your medical records

Medical records may only be requested by the person they belong to or their legal representative according to HIPAA Federal laws.

Fill out the Authorization to Release Medical Records form. Be sure to include the specific dates of service needed, specific type of information along with the reason for the request. The form can be obtained at:

Medical Records is on the 1st Floor of the Main Hospital (behind the Pro Building on the map). There is parking in the lot of the Pro Building. Handicap parking with access to this part of the Main Hospital is in the lower level of the Parking Ramp.

Copy Fee:

McLaren Greater Lansing Medical Records DepartmentDOES charge for copies. Payment can be made by credit/debit card, check or money order to "MMRA." If a patient can show that they cannot pay, one copy will be given for free. Speak to staff with any questions.

Pathology Department

Test slides are provided
Monday – Friday: 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., (except Holidays).

At least 24-hours is needed for specimens to be ready.

Pathology is on the 4th Floor of the Main Hospital. Use the Elevator near the Chi Library. (Best access is through the entrance behind the Pro Building on the map.)
Radiology Department

At least 24-hours is needed for x-rays to be ready.

Copies of x-rays for follow-up for doctor(s) appointments can be provided. X-Rays can be given in film or CD form. Unless requested, x-rays will be on a CD. McLaren Greater Lansing may charge for copies. Payment can be made in cash, or by check or money order to "McLaren Greater Lansing."

Radiology is on the 1st Floor of the Chi Heart & Surgery Center. Parking is in the main parking lot to the East of the Chi Heart & Surgery Center.

At your next visit to a McLaren facility (hospital, physician office or outpatient facility) please provide your email at registration. A secure invitation containing a link to complete registration to join My McLaren Chart will be emailed to you.

Connect Your Health App/Fitness Tracker

McLaren Greater Lansing now offers you the ability to securely connect your health records to some third-party websites, health management apps, and diet/fitness trackers. This new feature provides access to your health and wellness data that will enable you and your care team to make informed choices.

To request an interface to allow you to securely connect your health records to your preferred app, please complete the form.

Once we receive your request, McLaren Greater Lansing will work with the appropriate vendors to determine if they meet the technical requirements in order to establish a secure connection.
