Benedette Ebosi is Honored with Extraordinary Employee of the Season Award

Benedette Ebosi, nurse assistant, was honored as the newest recipient of McLaren Greater Lansing’s Extraordinary Employee of the Season Award. This award acknowledges any employee in the hospital system for the extraordinary work they do.

Ebosi’s nomination, submitted by a coworker, said: “Benedette is a blessing to our unit. She goes above and beyond, often times being the only nurse assistant on nights for our entire shift, which is a heavy acuity unit filled with oncology and neurology patients. We never have to ask Benedette to do something because she's already on it. She checks on patients without needing to be reminded, provides phenomenal patient care, answers call lights, and responds quicker than anyone, knows where everything is located on the unit, runs to other units for supplies if we are short, and always makes sure patient's rooms are stocked as needed.”

Her nomination went on to say, “No matter how busy Benedette is, she still does what she needs to do, on time, with a positive attitude, and a smile. Let's not forget all the extra shifts she picks up to make sure we aren't short-staffed throughout the hospital. She's not only a hero for the patients, but she's a hero for fellow coworkers who feel her absence when she's not here. We couldn't do it without her, and we appreciate her more than she knows!”

With 25 years dedicated to working at McLaren Greater Lansing, Ebosi is a cornerstone of the hospital staff. She was drawn to working in health care after watching her father battle cancer–an experience that sparked her passion for caregiving.

“I’ve never had a single day where I regretted my career choice,” said Ebosi. “My coworkers are wonderful, and being here truly feels like a second home.”

The Extraordinary Employee of the Season Award is given out to an individual each quarter. Nominees can be clinical or non-clinical staff at all levels and are chosen internally by McLaren staff.
