Last year, McLaren Central Michigan implemented its biannual Daisy Award, a nationwide program to recognize outstanding nurses.
Following its initial Daisy Award presentation in November, McLaren Central Michigan ICU nurse Samantha Sherwood, RN, has been named the next recipient of the Daisy Award.
Winners receive a hand-carved Healer’s Touch Sculpture, bouquet of daisies, commemorative pin, and cinnamon rolls for the department.
Recognized by her co-worker, Samantha’s nomination expanded on why she is deserving of the award:
Sam is an incredible nurse. Without a doubt, one of the best at McLaren Central Michigan.
As a supervisor, when I see her here, I am immediately assured that the day will run smoothly. She is impeccable in her nursing skills and is incredibly helpful in any unit that has a need. She jumps right in to help. She has a wealth of knowledge, and she is incredibly knowledgeable and dependable.
Sam’s determination as a nurse is “awe” worthy. Her incredible spirit and drive set an example to all the other nurses that get the privilege to work by her side. She is a true leader and handles the most complex tasks and patient assignments with ease, never complaining.
We are all so lucky to be part of a team she is on. She deserves the Daisy Award more than anyone! She's an absolute standout! She is the best of the best.
Congratulations, Samantha!
