McLaren Awarded Michigan’s First and Only Palliative Care CHAP Accreditation

The Community Health Accreditation Program, Inc. (CHAP), an independent, nonprofit accrediting body for home and community-based health care organizations, has awarded McLaren Health Management Group accreditation in palliative care—the first and only palliative care CHAP accreditation in the state of Michigan. McLaren’s palliative care is a specialized medical service that focuses on providing relief for patients living with serious chronic illness like cancer, congestive heart failure, and more, wherever a patient calls home.

“Palliative care is a special service, and we have a truly special team delivering that care,” said Cynthia Tomlinson, MSN, RN, vice president of hospice at McLaren Health Management Group. “This accreditation is a testament that our team is truly in a class all its own.”

The CHAP Accreditation demonstrates McLaren meets the industry's highest nationally recognized standards and is a symbol of quality that reflects McLaren’s commitment to providing safe and quality patient care. McLaren received the CHAP Accreditation after a rigorous evaluation process which determined McLaren’s Palliative Care program met all CHAP Palliative Care Standards of Excellence which includes the delivery of patient and family-centered care that optimizes quality of life. McLaren’s evaluation returned no negative marks—a notable achievement.

“We are incredibly proud of our team members who earned this distinguished recognition through steadfast dedication to our patients and program development,” said Tomlinson.
