McLaren Greater Lansing Launches Mobile Clinic for Community Outreach

McLaren Greater Lansing, part of statewide McLaren Health Care and a comprehensive provider of care to Ingham, Eaton, and Clinton counties through its hospital and outpatient care facilities, has expanded beyond its campuses to create access for underserved communities through its fully equipped McLaren Mobile Clinic.

A doctor’s office on wheels designed to travel throughout the community, the McLaren Mobile Clinic can provide the full scope of primary care services. McLaren Greater Lansing resident physicians and attending primary care provider Dr. Aaron Bohrer will serve those patients, many of whom may encounter various challenges when attempting to receive care through traditional means.

Initially, Dr. Bohrer and the Mobile Clinic team will locate themselves at the New Hope Community Center (430 North Larch Street in Lansing) every Monday (1 to 5 p.m.) and Thursday (8 a.m. to 12 noon), with plans to increase availability.

“When we first introduced this project, it was more than about developing a mobile unit, but rather to bridge gaps in care for those who may be experiencing one,” said Lynn Griffor, McLaren Greater Lansing Chief Experience Officer and Vice President of Philanthropy. “The mission of our organization is to provide care for every member of our community who needs it, and with the addition of this outreach clinic, we can now literally meet them where they are, addressing barriers they may have previously encountered. We are incredibly grateful to the many people who made this possible, and we are proud to be able to offer this to the communities we serve.”

The mobile clinic’s care team provides health care services for patients with a full complement of primary care services, including wellness exams, chronic disease management, health screenings and athletic physicals, blood pressure checks, and referrals to specialty care among other services.

The highly specialized and newly constructed clinic was made possible through the philanthropic efforts of the McLaren Greater Lansing Foundation as well as sponsorships from Bill Carr Signs and IBEW NECA Local 665 — Lansing’s Electrical Contractor Association.
