McLaren Macomb appoints Chief Financial Officer

McLaren Macomb, part of McLaren Health Care and full-service health care provider serving all of Macomb County, has named Steve Snyder, CPA, MBA, as its Chief Financial Officer. The executive leader of the hospital’s financial management and action, Snyder joins McLaren Macomb effective June 19.

Snyder assumes the position vacated by Brian Balutanski, who had served as the hospital’s CFO since 2016 and was promoted to McLaren Health Care Corporate Controller in late 2022.

“Throughout his career, Steve has demonstrated his capacity to oversee the complexities of health care finances and effectively manage a hospital’s financial health through expense management, operational efficiency, and reimbursement proficiencies,” said David Mazurkiewicz, McLaren Health Care Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. “We are fortunate to add Steve to our team, and we welcome him to McLaren.”

Snyder brings more than 25 years of health care finance experience, beginning his career as an auditor for health care clients at Ernst & Young before moving to a Phoenix-based health care system, earning advancements and assuming larger responsibilities. He has served as CFO at multiple hospitals since 2017, most recently at Lutheran Hospital of Indiana in Fort Wayne.

“As we continue in our objective to expand health care access in Macomb County, Steve will prove to be a vital part in planning and achieving this vision,” said Tom Brisse, McLaren Macomb President and CEO. “He brings an exceptional combination of experience and knowledge to our organization, and his skills and personality will seamlessly fit into our executive team.”

Snyder earned his degree in accounting from Arizona State University before continuing his education with a Master of Business Administration from Florida International University.
