Volunteer at McLaren Northern Michigan

McLaren Northern Michigan welcomes volunteers in many areas. Our volunteers are the heart of our hospital, assisting our patients, visitors, and staff.

Our goal is to recruit and retain a group of dedicated, motivated, and conscientious volunteers who will commit themselves to our mission.

We have volunteer opportunities in our hospital and Karmanos Cancer Institute.

Becoming a volunteer:

  • Volunteers must complete the Volunteer Application Form, authorize a background check, and provide references.
  • Once your completed application and references have been received, your application is processed. If it is determined that we are able to match your skills and availability with our volunteer needs, you will be contacted to schedule a placement orientation.
  • During the orientation, the Volunteer Coordinator discusses your motivation for volunteering, your past volunteer and work experience, and your areas of interest for volunteer service, and will assist you in selecting a volunteer placement.
  • All volunteers must attend orientation and have a TB test prior to becoming a volunteer. Training is provided for each placement area.
