Volunteer At McLaren Bay Region or Bay Special Care

Hello and welcome to McLaren Bay Region, how may I help you? This may be how you are greeted by a volunteer once you walk through the doors of the hospital. It is our expectation that our volunteers, patients and visitors feel welcomed, comfortable, and safe at our facilities. Being one of our 200+ volunteers plays an essential role in helping McLaren Bay Region succeed.

The volunteer program at McLaren Bay Region provides a rewarding experience for community members and students 15 years of age or older (persons under 17 years of age must have a working permit). Volunteers support: Gift Shop, Administration, blood drives, Pastoral Care, Patient Access, Emergency Department, Ambulatory Surgery, Medical Library, Information Desk, Surgery Lounges, Courtesy Van Drivers, Ladies Auxiliary, Pre-procedure Holding, special projects, Bay Heart & Vascular, Marketing and Public Relations, Cardiac Rehab, Foundation Office, McLaren Bay Special Care, Rehabilitative Services, Human Resources, Employee Occupational Health Services, Diagnostic Imaging, Patient Accounts, popcorn sales, and more.

In order to attract and retain the best volunteers for McLaren Bay Region, we try to match talents and skills to areas of need. Volunteers may greet patients at the door, assist patients to their room, give progress updates to the patient’s family members waiting in the surgery lounge, deliver mail to patients while hospitalized, assist with purchases in the Gift Shop, and escort the patient to the door upon discharge.

Benefits of Volunteering

  • Giving back to your community
  • Developing a social network of like-minded community members
  • Complimentary influenza vaccination and tuberculosis (TB) testing
  • Complimentary meal ticket in the Hospital cafeteria on days when you serve four or more hours
