Future of Spinal Surgery: New Navigation System from Johnson & Johnson MedTech Visits MGL

Published on

At McLaren Greater Lansing, we are committed to offering the safest, most advanced care available. As part of that commitment, the hospital continues to closely follow the latest breakthroughs in surgical technology, like the newly FDA-cleared VELYS™ Robotic-Assisted Solution for Spine, developed by Johnson & Johnson’s DePuy Synthes division.

This next-generation system combines real-time navigation with robotic assistance, giving surgeons enhanced visibility and control while placing spinal hardware. It allows for millimeter-level accuracy and helps reduce reliance on traditional X-ray imaging during surgery, which in turn lowers radiation exposure for both patients and surgical staff.

Staff and physicians got an in-depth look at this new equipment on Thursday, June 26, when Johnson and Johnson took it on the road and to our hospital, so our team had the opportunity to check it out in person, ask questions, and even give it a test run.
