Patient and Visitor Information


To help keep our communities and our patients healthy, McLaren Flint continues to enforce the following family and visitor restrictions:

  • Any patient who has tested positive for COVID-19, or who is on droplet precautions awaiting test results, will not be able to have visitors
  • Inpatient visitation is restricted to 8:00am – 12:00pm and 4:00pm – 8:00pm
  • Each ER patient and admitted patient may have one healthy adult visitor, known as a Care Partner.
  • Patients with scheduled outpatient procedures may bring one healthy adult visitor with them who will be screened for symptoms.
  • Expecting mothers may have up to two Visitors/ Care Partners.
  • Pediatric patients may have up to two Parents/ Guardians.
  • Behavioral health patients may have one Adult Visitor four times per week (Tues, Thurs., Sat., and Sun 2 p.m. - 3 p.m.).

Due to the dramatic increase in COVID-19 cases in our community, we have made the difficult decision to keep in place these visitor restrictions. It is our responsibility to help keep our patients, staff, and community safe, and we believe limiting the number of individuals entering the hospital will help do so. We will assist our patients with virtual visits whenever possible through FaceTime, Zoom, or other appropriate technology to ensure they can stay connected with their loved ones.

All Visitors/Care Partners who are approved to enter will be:

  • Screened for symptoms. If symptomatic, you will not be allowed to enter.
  • Expected to wear a facemask while in the hospital.
  • Expected to stay at the patient’s bedside and not wander.
  • Expected to limit the items brought in, reducing the chances of taking germs back home.
  • Expected to limit time in public areas, such as the cafeteria.
  • Expected to sanitize/wash hands every time you enter or leave the patient’s room.
  • Expected to leave immediately when visitation is over, and not wander through hallways.

Social Visitation

Social visitation with loved ones can be done by telephone, Zoom or FaceTime.

McLaren Flint’s Patient Experience Team has worked with our caregivers to make patients aware that they have the option of communicating with loved ones via a Zoom meeting. Create an account and download Zoom for free. If your loved one does not have a device to use Zoom, they may ask their caregiver for a McLaren Flint issued device. Should they need help beginning a Zoom meeting, their caregivers may assist.

Should your loved one have communication challenges and not be able to ask for a Zoom or FaceTime social visitation, please call the hospital operator at (810) 342-2000 and request to be transferred to his or her care unit. Staff on that floor can assist you in getting in touch with your loved one.
