Patient and Visitor Information

Visiting Guidelines

  • Quiet Time: 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm (observed on all units)
  • Check In: All visitors must check in at the Patient Information Desk located in the main lobby or at the Emergency Department Check-in.
  • Children: Children under age 12 (must be accompanied by an adult)
  • Visitation Restrictions:
    • No more than two visitors may be in a patient room at any given time.
    • Restricted Visiting Hours are in place for the Intensive Care Unit, Cardiac Care Unit and the Behavioral Health Unit.
    • Anyone with flu-like symptoms including fever, cough, sore throat, a cold, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, or runny nose will be encouraged to leave.
    • Overnight Accommodations: If there is a need for a visitor to stay overnight, please arrange for accommodations with staff.

    Visitor guidelines are subject to change in order to meet health, safety, or other emergency needs. Any and all such changes will be clearly communicated to visitors at the Information Desk.

    After Hours

    Arrangements can be made with staff for special circumstances.

General Visiting Hours

8:00 am to 8:00 pm

Family Birthing Center

Visiting hours are from 8:00 am - 8:00 pm
Mother's designated support person may visit anytime.

To protect the health of our youngest patients and their mothers, children under the age of 12 are not permitted to the BirthPlace UNLESS they are the brother or sister of the newborn patient.

Critical Care Units (ICU and CCU)

To ensure the best possible environment for healing, there are several restrictions that apply to the ICU and CCU. Visitation is restricted to the patient's immediate family, 12 years of age and older. We ask that visits are kept short and there are no more than two people per visit.

The front entrance to the ICU is locked to visitors between the hours of 7:00 am - 8:00 am, 9:00 am - 12:00 pm, 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm. The back hallway in the ICU will be locked at all times.
CCU Visiting Hours:
Visitation can take place between 8:30 am - 7:00 pm.

Behavioral Health Unit

Visitors are restricted to anyone age 18 and older only
Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday: 1:30 pm - 2:30 pm only
No visitation on Monday, Wednesday or Friday
Major Holidays: 1:30 pm - 2:30 pm only

Non Smoking

Smoking is not permitted on the McLaren Flint campus.

Fire Safety

Hospital staff is trained to follow the R.A.C.E. (Rescue Alarm Contain Extinguish/Escape) fire procedure. In case of fire staff will instruct patients and visitors what they need to do to safely evacuate the area.

Parking and Directions

Free parking is available off Ballenger Highway across from McLaren Flint’s main entrance. Parking is also available in the Visitor Parking ramp at a cost of $2.00. This ramp is accessible from the hospital’s main entrance.


Valet parking is also available at a cost of $3.00 at the hospital’s main entrance.
