The hands-on experience was unparalleled, especially in coronary angiography, transesophageal echocardiography, and electrophysiology. This focus on practical skills not only enhanced my clinical proficiency but also prepared me for real-world scenarios in cardiovascular care. Being able to collaborate with attendings of immense stature in the field of cardiology was truly a privilege. Their expertise and guidance played a pivotal role in shaping my development as a future interventional cardiologist. Moreover, my colleagues, who evolved into more than just coworkers, became a second family, provided incredible support and camaraderie throughout the fellowship journey. "My experience as a cardiology fellow at McLaren/Flint has been transformative, providing unparalleled training, exposure to a diverse patient population, and the opportunity to work alongside some of the most experienced and knowledgeable cardiologists. From the beginning, I was immersed in a comprehensive curriculum that balanced clinical practice with cutting-edge research. Morning conferences were excellent and informative, thoroughly preparing us for board exams. Under the expert supervision of Dr. Munir and Dr. Changezi, I developed the confidence and proficiency to perform various cardiology procedures, ranging from diagnostic catheterizations to advanced interventions. During my EP rotation, I had the privilege of working with Dr. Hassan and Dr. Abed, who guided us through procedures such as permanent pacemaker placement, MICRA pacemaker placement, and atrial fibrillation ablations. Advanced cardiac imaging training with Dr. Sulaiman gave me the confidence to interpret cardiac SPECT, PET scans, CCTA, and cardiac MRI. My outpatient rotation with Dr. Predeteanu was instrumental in helping me manage advanced and challenging cases, further solidifying my clinical acumen. The attending physicians were not only experts in their specialties but also passionate educators who took the time to mentor me and guide my development as a clinician. One of the highlights of the program was the collaborative and supportive environment. The camaraderie among the fellows, coupled with the accessibility of the faculty, created a nurturing learning atmosphere. We were encouraged to ask questions, explore our interests, and take on leadership roles within the team. This experience has solidified my skills and confidence, preparing me to handle the complexities of cardiovascular disease with expertise and compassion. The program's commitment to academic excellence was evident through the numerous opportunities for research and professional development. I had the opportunity to present at national conferences and contribute to publications, deepening my understanding of the latest advancements in cardiology. The broad range of cases I encountered, from common cardiovascular conditions to rare and complex diseases, has provided me with the knowledge and experience to excel in my future career. I am incredibly grateful for the mentorship and guidance I received throughout my fellowship.
