    The Breast Surgical Oncology fellowship at Karmanos Cancer Institute and McLaren Flint offers a broad experience in the multidisciplinary care of patients with benign and malignant breast disease. The goal of the Breast Surgical Oncology Fellowship is to provide fellows the ability to:

    • Advance knowledge and skills in the surgical and multidisciplinary management of breast cancer.
    • Participate and understand research and support for patients with breast disease.
    • Function as part of a multidisciplinary team.
    • Be prepared to transition to practice.
    • Confidently manage benign diseases of the breast.

    At the conclusion of the fellowship in Breast Surgical Oncology, the fellow should be able to provide comprehensive, state-of-the-art medical & surgical care to patients with breast diseases. This will include the abilities to investigate, diagnose, recommend appropriate treatment options, perform the operative procedures, and provide the pre-, peri-, and post-operative care. The fellow will be able to successfully lead a multidisciplinary breast cancer team in addition to becoming adept at enrolling patients in clinical trials.
