Independence Pointe

A short stop to getting back to your life. 

A 25,000 square-foot, Medicare-certified unit focuses primarily on making your stay a short one.  The skilled staff of Independence Pointe offers intensive, customized rehabilitation therapy that is a perfect transition between a hospital stay and your return to everyday life. 

The rehabilitation program is designed for individuals who have experienced the following:  

• Stroke
• Arthritis
• Motor vehicle accidents
• General orthopedic surgeries
• Multiple Sclerosis        
• Cancer
• Heart conditions
• Hip replacements/joint surgeries
• Back injuries
• Renal Disease
• COPD and more…

Highlights include:

• Professional, skilled and fully licensed rehabilitation team 
• Physical, occupational and speech therapy programs ranging from five to seven days per week
• 24-hour nursing care
• State-of the-art therapy gym equipment
• Choice of primary care physician
• Access to physical medicine rehabilitation physician
• Consultations with a psychiatrist 
• Collaboration with interdisciplinary team (nursing, rehabilitation, dietician, activities and social services)
• Periodic team reviews to discuss goals, plan of care and discharge planning
• Licensed social worker to assist with discharge planning, coordination of home care services or alternative living

Marwood Nursing and Rehab offers security and comfort to individuals who require around-the-clock medical care.  The devoted staff at Marwood will provide 24-hour assistance with the activities of daily living.  Each resident’s care plan is customized to meet their individual needs and to maximize their quality of life.  In addition to receiving top notch nursing care, residents also have the opportunity to participate and explore a wide variety of social and recreational programs.   

Residency in one of our neighborhoods offers families the comfort in knowing that their loved ones quality of life is being maintained and their medical needs are being met.

Hospice Services

Hospice services are designed to offer additional care and comfort to terminally ill residents in the final stages of their life.  Offered in any one of the neighborhoods at Marwood, hospice professionals partner with Marwood staff to provide palliative care for residents, support and counseling for residents and their families in addition to spiritual care services.

Respite Care  

Respite services are designed to help alleviate the physical and emotional demands that caregivers experience when caring for a loved one.  Marwood offers short-term stays ranging from three to fourteen days for individuals who require around-the-clock nursing care.

Alzheimer's and Dementia Care

Bridgeport:  A loving and nurturing place to be. 

Bridgeport is a secure neighborhood designed to meet specific needs of individuals with Alzheimer’s and Dementia. The unit is designed to create a familiar and comforting setting that provides stability, structure and stimulation to enable residents to function at their maximum level. 

Highlights include:

• Staff specially trained in Alzheimer’s/Dementia care
• Modified environment to increase socialization and engagement
• One-on-one family support with specialized care team
• Coordination of care with a geriatric psychiatrist
• State-of-the-art sensory equipment for dementia residents
• Specialized activity programs
• Music therapy programming to assist in maintaining cognitive and physical skills
• Cooking programs for sensory stimulation
• Secure entrance/exit to prevent wandering
• Enclosed courtyards for easy strolling
• Open campus when weather permits
