    The Anesthesiology Program consists of board-certified physicians that are committed to preparing you to become proficient, empathetic, and well-rounded physicians. Throughout the program you will receive thorough training on Anesthesiology procedures. Our program provides exposure to patients with varying socioeconomic situations in a community-based setting. McLaren Oakland’s Anesthesiology residents are well-prepared to enter practice after graduation. This four-year program involves training in all aspects of anesthesia care including pediatric, neurosurgical, obstetrical, cardiovascular, critical care, and pain management. Residents learn invasive monitoring techniques along with acute and chronic epidural narcotic administration. Training is supplemented with daily teaching conferences, formal lectures, and a weekly journal club. Residents interact with the full spectrum of specialty departments and rotate through critical care and pain therapy programs. Students will "match" directly into the residency and the 1st postdoctoral year will be considered the first year of residency training.

    McLaren Macomb/Oakland has provided Cardiovascular training since 2002. We offer a dynamic, hands-on clinical and personalized training, formal didactics, and a supportive environment. Externs, interns, and residents play an important role at McLaren Macomb/Oakland, providing direct care to our patients under the supervision of attending physicians. .

    McLaren Oakland Emergency Medicine Residency is a well-established ACGME-accredited program located at McLaren Oakland in downtown Pontiac, Michigan.

  • Program Information:

    McLaren Oakland Family Medicine allows flexibility to address and satisfy each resident’s educational needs and practice preferences. Residents care for patients in our continuity of care clinic as well as in multiple primary care offices throughout Oakland County. Family Medicine faculty supervises these experiences. Additional block ambulatory care training occurs in rural and urban offices. Other rotations in specialty and sub-specialty areas provide needed knowledge and skills. Required rotations include Emergency Medicine, General Surgery and surgical sub-specialties, Internal Medicine, Obstetrics/Gynecology, Orthopedics, Geriatrics, Sports Medicine, Pediatrics, Cardiology, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and Critical Care (ICU). There is ample time offered for elective rotations. Elective rotations offered include Infectious Diseases, Nephrology, Urology, Dermatology, Ophthalmology, Otorhinolaryngology, Pulmonary Medicine, Rheumatology, Gastroenterology, Neurology, Podiatry, and others.

    The McLaren Oakland Internal Medicine Residency program is approved for 24 residents. These residents are trained by board certified physicians who are committed and tenured educators. The core faculty boast an average of 15 years of experience in clinical academic medicine. The faculty are made up of hospital-employed and private practitioners who are active bedside educators and dedicated mentors. Residents who choose McLaren Oakland will be exposed to a variety of pathology due to the urban nature of the clinical setting, the hospital's ACS Level II Trauma Certification, Stroke Center Certification and proximity to heavily traveled highways.

    The McLaren Oakland Orthopedic Surgery Program is a 5 year ACGME accredited program at a level 2 trauma center located in downtown Pontiac, MI.

  • Program Information:

    The McLaren Oakland Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery residency program is five years in duration. Training will include supervised clinical and technical training, in addition to instruction and study in the basic sciences that apply to Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery. The program contains all of the necessary components to satisfy the requirements of the ACGME. The residency is based at McLaren Oakland, with considerable time spent at Lakeshore ENT.Lakeshore ENT, under the site director, Michael Fozo, MD, provides residency training in all major areas of otolaryngology. Residents will be exposed to general ENT as well as the following specialties: Head/Neck Surgery, Neuro-Otology, Facial Plastic Surgery, Laryngology, Allergy, and Pediatric Otolaryngology. At McLaren Oakland, there is an emphasis on preparing the resident to be a professional, independent, and resourceful clinical decision maker. This program finds the most successful residents in the program are autonomous, mature learners with strong self-concept, motivation and leadership skills. Residents who choose McLaren Oakland will be exposed to a variety of pathology due to the urban nature of the clinical setting, the hospital's ACS Level II Trauma Certification, Stroke Center Certification, and proximity to heavily traveled highways.

  • Program Information:

    Podiatric Medicine and Surgery Residency with a credential in Reconstructive Rearfoot/Ankle Surgery (PMSR/RRA) is available with McLaren Oakland’s program. This residency includes training in rear foot and ankle surgery. Residents are assigned to various podiatric faculty for continuity clinic for all three years with various occasional scrub opportunities. Residents see a pool of patients with a wide range of foot and ankle pathology under the supervision of an attending Podiatrist.

    The McLaren Oakland Pulmonary Disease and Critical Care Medicine fellowship is approved for four fellows. These fellows are trained by board certified physicians who are committed and tenured educators. The faculty are made up of private practitioners who are active bedside educators and dedicated mentors. Fellows who choose McLaren Oakland will be exposed to a variety of pathology due to the urban nature of the clinical setting, the hospital's ACS Level II Trauma Certification, Stroke Center Certification and proximity to heavily traveled highways. The fellows have the opportunity to rotate at tertiary care centers for specialty rotations, such as Neuro-ICU at Henry Ford, Surgical ICU at Sinai-Grace, and Toxicology at DMC/Wayne State University.

    McLaren Oakland/Macomb Radiology Residency is sponsored under McLaren Heath Care. The oversight of the program is under the direction of McLaren Oakland. McLaren Oakland/Macomb Diagnostic Radiology Residency is a 5-year (categorical), ACGME-accredited residency training program. Training occurs primarily at McLaren Oakland and McLaren Macomb, two ACS trauma level II hospitals in the Southeast Michigan area.
