History of McLaren Bay Medical Foundation

McLaren Bay Medical Foundation is a separate 501 (c)(3) not-for-profit corporation that has a mission to support McLaren Bay Region and McLaren Bay Special Care in its goal of providing quality care to the patients it serves. Governed by a maximum of 35-member voluntary Board of Trustees from throughout the community, the Foundation raises funds for health services, medical diagnostic and treatment equipment, and various educational and screening programs. Funds are raised through several special events, individual solicitation, corporate and business sponsorships, and planned giving efforts. Successful employee and community fund drives are conducted each year. McLaren Bay Medical Foundation maintains a general Permanent fund as well as a Board Designated unrestricted Funds, and offers Donor Advised Funds, Family and Individual Named Funds, for numerous community health needs. The Foundation raises, holds invests and distributes charitable funds on behalf of McLaren Bay Region, McLaren Bay Special Care, and the Helen M. Nickless Volunteer Clinic.

The cornerstone for McLaren Bay Medical Foundation was laid in 1972 when citizens in the community raised $3 million to build what is now known as Mclaren Bay Region. In 1978, McLaren Bay Medical Foundation was established. Today, the Foundation’s Board of Trustees is made up of approximately 25 community members who volunteer their time and expertise. McLaren Bay Region and its Foundation are continually looking ahead to anticipate future needs and develop model programs to benefit the people in and around Bay County.
