Visiting Guidelines
Information Desk Hours
- Mon–Wed: 6:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
- Tue, Thu & Fri: 7:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
- Sat–Sun: 8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
General Visitation
- Visitors are allowed between 8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. (may remain after 6:00 p.m., including overnight, if approved—see Exceptions below).
- 2 visitors at a time for the main tower and outpatient procedures (visitors may be swapped).
- No visitors for COVID-positive patients.
- No visitors under 16.
- Emergency Department and Behavioral Health Unit visitation remain unchanged.
- Masks required for all visitors (nose and mouth covered).
- Anyone with, or suspected of having, COVID-19 may not enter McLaren Oakland buildings.
Exceptions & Special Circumstances
The Nursing Supervisor may make exceptions or deny visitation in coordination with the care team. This includes compassionate exceptions (with appropriate precautions), allowances for clergy, visitors under age 16, and restricting visitation for disruptive behavior.
Non-Smoking Policy
McLaren Oakland is a smoke-free campus, including all buildings, parking areas, and walkways. E-cigarettes and vaping devices are included. Patients may not leave to smoke; request nicotine replacement therapy from your care team if needed.

Free Self-Parking
Free parking is available in the deck across from the Emergency Room entrance (entrance off Mill St. between Pike St. and E. Huron St.). For an escort to your vehicle, call Security (248) 338-3235.

Phones
Cell phone use is permitted in public areas (lobby, cafeteria, waiting rooms). It is prohibited in patient care areas. For privacy and security, photography/recording is not allowed without Hospital Administration approval.
Spiritual Care
Our chaplain and Spiritual Care volunteers support patients and families of all faiths. Request a visit via your nurse or call the Spiritual Care Department at (248) 338-5350 (ext. 5350).
Chaplain Services
Staff Chaplain and volunteers provide prayer, scripture reading, conversation, and other resources per patient request.
Chapel
Open 24/7 on the 2nd floor (left of the elevators). Quiet space for reflection and prayer. Bibles and materials available. A prayer book is available for prayer requests.
