  • How can I receive updates on construction activities?

    We encourage you to sign-up for our 10-Day Look Ahead email notices. These Friday updates include the project’s anticipated activities for the upcoming 10 days so that you can plan accordingly.

  • What is being done to mitigate any impacts from the construction activities?

    The building project work is being permitted by the City of Petoskey and will be in compliance with all requirements established by the Petoskey Municipal Code as well as the Emmet County and State of Michigan. All construction activities, hours of operation, and truck hauling routes are being coordinated carefully to reduce impact to project neighbors and the health care of our patients.

  • What are the general hours of construction?

    Regular construction hours will be between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m., Monday-Friday. Weekend, night, and holiday work by special permission only. All construction related equipment and materials must be transported on roadways designated as truck routes by the City of Petoskey.

  • Will the current hospital remain open during the rebuilding and expansion?

    Yes. In order to ensure that our community’s health care needs are being met, McLaren Northern Michigan hospital will remain open and fully operational during construction.

  • When will the project be completed?

    The last stages of the project, the renovation of the existing McLaren Northern Michigan hospital is expected to be completed in 2023, respectively.

    The McLaren Northern Michigan Building and Renovation Project includes the transformation and modernizing facilities that are the foundation of our community and regions healthcare services. The primary community benefit of the project is providing a safe, modern hospital with adequate capacity for patient care.

  • How should I get ready?

    Shower or bathe and shampoo the night before and the morning of your surgery, with antibacterial soap before coming to the hospital - this helps to prevent infection. Click on the link below for more information on important showering instructions:

    Make sure your hair is clean and dry prior to arriving. Avoid hairspray.

    Wear loose clothing that is easy to get off and on, which will fit over extra padding such as a bandage/dressing.

    Do not wear makeup, jewelry (including any body piercing) or metal hair accessories.

    Do not bring other valuables.

    Change linens on your bed the night prior to surgery so that you are sleeping on clean bedding, after your antibacterial showering. Do not apply lotions or powders.
