McLaren Port Huron awarded Spring 2023 ‘A’ Hospital Safety Grade from Leapfrog Group

McLaren Port Huron received an “A” Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group, a national nonprofit upholding the standard of patient safety in hospitals and ambulatory surgery centers. This national distinction celebrates McLaren Port Huron’s achievements in prioritizing patient safety by protecting patients from preventable harm and errors. The new grades reflect performance primarily during the height of the pandemic and reflect the hospital’s performance in preventing medical errors, injuries, accidents, infections and other harm to patients in their care, as well as patient experience.

“This honor is a testament to the care and commitment of the incredible team at McLaren Port Huron,” said Eric Cecava, president and CEO at McLaren Port Huron. “Given the extraordinary challenges we’ve faced over the past few years, this grade is even more impressive. Our team never loses sight of the critical need to provide high quality care in a compassionate and safe environment.”

Developed under the guidance of a national expert panel, the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade uses publicly available hospital safety data to assign grades to hospitals twice a year. The methodology is peer-reviewed and fully transparent, and the results are free to the public.
