Welcome to McLaren Oakland Graduate Medical Education

McLaren Oakland’s Department of Graduate Medical Education stands by its mission to provide residents the skills, knowledge, and aptitudes that they need to provide patients safe, high value, and cost conscientious care in the primary and specialty health care services. McLaren Oakland offers nine residency programs and one fellowship program. In addition, experiences in numerous specialties are available to third- and fourth-year medical students. McLaren Oakland is a primary member of the Statewide Campus System of the Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine (MSUCOM), setting consistent, high-quality academic standards for training physicians.

Founded in 1953, McLaren Oakland has expanded to over 328 beds and multiple satellite facilities, including over 300 teaching faculty committed to educating our residents. McLaren Oakland has a very robust community of medical students, residents, and physicians who work closely with interdisciplinary teams to integrate the values of integrity, excellence, diversity, and intelligence in order to serve the patients and families in our community.

Hospital Information

McLaren Oakland is a 328-bed medical center that provides primary and specialty healthcare services to the greater Pontiac and Oakland County community. Founded in 1953, McLaren Oakland has grown to a comprehensive medical community that includes outpatient facilities in Clarkston and Oxford, in addition to an inpatient hospital in Pontiac providing a range of clinical services including emergency and trauma care, cardiology, cancer services, minimally invasive robotic surgery, and orthopedic services. With a network of more than 300 physicians, McLaren Oakland owns a network of employed physician offices throughout Oakland County and a nursing home in Lake Orion. McLaren Oakland is a Level II verified trauma center and an accredited stroke center.

McLaren Oakland provides primary and specialty health care services guided by the values of integrity, excellence, diversity, and intelligence. We aspire to enhance the quality of life and health status of the people we serve. Founded in 1953, McLaren Oakland has grown from one small clinic to a full-fledged medical community that includes more than 300 physicians, 328 beds, an inpatient hospital in downtown Pontiac, Michigan and eight satellite facilities throughout northern Oakland County.
