McLaren Northern Michigan Foundation
Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Breast Cancer Awareness

One in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer during their lifetime. Each October we ask area businesses to join us in supporting local women and men in their fight against cancer.

There are many ways for your business and your employees to get involved.

  • Give a donation today, or donate a portion of your sales for a day or a month.
  • Ask customers to round up on their purchases.
  • Host a Blue Jean Day when employees pay $5 to wear jeans to work.
  • Host a Pink Day when employees wear pink and collect donations on that day.
  • Match employee donations.

The Kathleen Jontz Breast Health Fund

Your support of the Kathleen Jontz Breast Health Fund provides patients in northern Michigan with access to prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of breast cancer. Patients who meet certain financial criteria are assisted with mammograms, biopsies, ultrasounds, transportation assistance, medications, comfort care items, and more. The fund also supports the needs of the Breast Health Department including equipment purchases.

The Kim Monthei Cancer Fund

In memory of Kim Monthei and the battle she lost against breast cancer, join others in supporting the Kim Monthei Cancer Fund. The fund helps remove barriers to diagnosis and treatment for cancer patients in Cheboygan County. In addition to women with breast cancer being helped with access to mammograms, the fund provides assistance for transportation, lodging, short term prescription aid, comfort care items, nutritional supplements, and more for patients with cancer from Cheboygan County.
