The Kim Monthei Cancer Fund

Helping Cancer Patients in Cheboygan County

Offering a hand was what Kim Monthei was known for in the area that she called home. Kim would be pleased to see that her family and friends have continued to help others in her memory. Kim lost her battle with breast cancer in 2014.

The Kim Monthei Cancer Fund was established by her family and M&M Plumbing Heating and Cooling in her memory. She cared for the people in northern Michigan and is still making a difference with your help.

Monthei family

When you support the Kim Monthei Cancer Fund, you give more than money. You are giving the gift of world-class care, treatment, medical talent and support right where we all live, work and raise our families. You make sure advanced care will be here for you, your loved ones, friends, neighbors, and thousands of deserving families when they need it most.

Whenever someone in our community needs us – regardless of age or ability to pay–we’re there. But we can only be there for them if caring individuals like you are there too.

Your generous donation means the world to a patient diagnosed with cancer and their family. It allows them to focus on their physical and emotional well-being while receiving arduous treatments.

Here’s how your gifts to the Kim Monthei Cancer Fund help patients:

  • You help provide patients with a healthy meal. For some recipients, it is the first time they can afford to shop for and select nutritional food they love; an experience many of us take for granted each day.
  • You help cover the cost of transportation so patients can access cancer treatment; this can be a round trip distance of over 100 miles a day for patients living in rural areas.
  • You help provide assistance with mammography screening, biopsies, ultrasounds, medications, and diagnostic equipment.
  • Your gift enables patients diagnosed with cancer to focus on their health, getting stronger, and healing.
  • Your donation stays in our local, northern Michigan Community, helping your neighbors just as Kim Monthei did.

If you are looking for another way to honor Kim and support local residents, you can find out more about Kim’s Closet through M&M Plumbing and Heating. Kim’s Closet is located at the Inland Lakes School in Indian River, and provides clean, warm clothing and personal hygiene supplies to local children year-round.

We thank each and every one of you for allowing us the privilege to help your neighbors, family, and friends through this difficult journey
