Meet Our Leadership Team

  • Todd Burch, President and CEO
    Todd Burch
    President/CEO
    McLaren Northern Michigan

    Todd Burch joined McLaren Northern Michigan in April 2019 as the President and Chief Executive Officer. He brings more than 16 years of executive leadership experience within the private sector, hospitals and health systems.

    Most recently, Todd served as Regional CEO for an integrated health system serving northern Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Todd held senior leadership positions in both the public and private sectors of health care, including Chief Operating Officer, President, CEO of a Kansas health care organization as well as founding a health care consulting firm.

    Todd holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Southwestern Oklahoma State University, and a Master of Science in Health Care Administration from the University of Texas at Arlington.

    He and his wife of 20 years, Niki, along with their children Madeleine, Sydney, Gabriel, and Josie are looking forward to enjoying all of the activities that northern Michigan has to offer.

    Andrew McDonagh, MD, FHM, FACP
    Chief Medical Officer
    Vice President Medical Affairs

    Dr. McDonagh received his medical degree from the Indiana University School of Medicine in 1987 and has maintained Board Certification in Internal Medicine since 1990. Early in his professional career, Dr. McDonagh practiced primary care medicine in rural communities in Montana, Maine, and New Hampshire.

    For the past 23 years, Dr. McDonagh practiced in Milwaukee, Wisconsin where he established the first independent clinical practice solely dedicated to hospital medicine in the state. In 2008, Dr. McDonagh joined Aurora Health Care as Medical Director of Hospital Medicine and, in 2013, assumed the position of Chief Medical Officer at Aurora West Allis Medical Center in Milwaukee.

    Dr. McDonagh comes to McLaren Northern Michigan with over 23 years of proven physician leadership experience. As a physician executive, his focus has been on enhancing patient safety and clinical quality through improving efficiency of care, encouraging care delivery innovation, and most importantly, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration.

    Chief Financial Officer

    Mike joined McLaren Northern Michigan in March 2021 as Chief Financial Officer, bringing over 20 years of hospital finance experience.

    Over his career, Mike worked in hospitals in southeast Michigan in increasing leadership roles. Prior to joining McLaren Northern Michigan, he was the Senior Vice President and Regional Chief Financial Officer for Trinity Health – Saint Agnes Medical Center in Fresno, California.

    Mike hold a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from Walsh College of Accountancy and Business Administration in Troy, and completed his Master of Business Administration from Oakland University in Auburn Hills, Michigan.

    Laura Daniel MSN, RN, CHPCNA

    Laura has been with McLaren Home Care & Hospice (formerly VitalCare) since 1991, previously working at Cheboygan Memorial Hospital in the Intensive Care Unit, the Emergency Department, and House Supervision. Laura began her career in both the home health and hospice divisions, later overseeing Private Duty Nursing and Clinical Records departments. In 1995, Laura was instrumental in opening the Cheboygan Hospice House. In 1997, Hospice of the Sunrise Shore-Alpena was acquired and Laura moved that program from a volunteer hospice to a fully Medicare-certified hospice program. In 2010, when Hospice of Little Traverse Bay joined McLaren Home Care & Hospice, Laura standardized all three hospices to create a unified program for northern Michigan and the eastern Upper Peninsula. When promoted to Senior Director, Laura assumed responsibilities for the Adult Day Center, an out-patient Palliative Care program, and the Billing department.

    Laura holds a Masters Degree in Nursing and a National Certification in Hospice and Palliative Care Nurse Administration. Laura is currently enrolled in the Madonna School of Nursing pursuing a Doctorate in Nursing Practice.

    Laura is a former Board member of Cheboygan Area Schools and the Michigan Hospice and Palliative Care Organization. She currently is a member of Sigma Theta Tau, Michigan Homecare and Hospice Organization, and sits on the Board of Directors for Lutheran Family Services.

    Shari Schult, MSN, RN
    Vice President Operations

    As Vice President of Operations, Shari Schult is responsible for overseeing all aspects of operations for multiple service lines and physician practices including Pharmacy, Lab, Neurosciences, Infectious Diseases, Nephrology, Diabetic and Nutrition Center, Radiology, and all clinical operations for the McLaren Northern Michigan Cheboygan Campus.

    Shari has provided the leadership necessary for a full and successful integration of the Cheboygan Campus. Overseeing all aspects of operations, Shari is responsible for the alignment of business and clinical processes in support of our Mission, which includes executive oversight of the Level II Trauma program. Shari is also leading our facilities planning and development teams from concept through execution as we renovate, modernize, and build for the future.

    Shari is a Registered Nurse, holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from the University of Phoenix, and a Master’s degree in Nursing specializing in leadership and management from Walden University.
