Visiting Hours Limited Due to COVID-19
In response to COVID-19, visitation to McLaren Port Huron is limited to one visitor per patient per day from noon to 6 p.m. Please note:
- No visitors are allowed for patients with pending or positive COVID-19 tests, including in the Emergency Room.
- Visitors must be over age 18.
- Visitors must remain with the patient in their room, unless asked otherwise by the clinical team.
- Members of the clergy are exempted from the one-visitor-per-day guidelines.
- All visitors will be screened when entering the hospital to verify they do not have signs or symptoms of COVID-19.
- Visitors must wear a mask at all times and remain with the patient, unless asked otherwise by the clinical team.
Exceptions to the visiting guidelines can be made for end-of-life situations, mentally disabled patients, emergencies, etc. Other exceptions or clarifications include:
- Operating Room: Patients undergoing surgery or procedures that require sedation/anesthesia may have one visitor/companion. If it's outside of visiting hours, the visitor may accompany the patient to the unit to get the patient settled and then leave.
- Emergency Room: Patients can have one person accompany them, if neither are suspected to have COVID-19. If the patient is admitted to the hospital outside of visiting hours, the visitor may accompany the patient to the unit to get the patient settled and then leave.
- ICU: One visitor per patient.
- Family Birth Place: During labor, patients can have two visitors — a partner and a birthing support person over age 18.
- Pediatrics: Pediatric patients can have two visitors over the age of 18. Patients under age 12 must have an adult stay with them at all times.
- Mental Health: Visiting hours are Saturdays from 10 to 11 a.m.; one visitor per patient is allowed.
- Outpatient services: Patients who have an appointment within the hospital (such as laboratory or diagnostic imaging) or are scheduled for an outpatient procedure may have one visitor.
- Hospice and end-of-life situations: Patients being evaluated for or on hospice care or nearing end of life may have two visitors.
- Patients with COVID-19 (diagnosed or suspected) are not permitted visitors, with some exceptions, including pediatric patients, expecting mothers, adults with disabilities, patients who require assistance through the registration or discharge process, or patients nearing end of life.
