Visiting Hours and Guidelines

General Visiting Hours

Visitor Expectations

  • Children: Children under the age of 12 will not be permitted to visit patients, except in special circumstances arranged with the nurse providing care.
Visitors ages 12 to 16 must be accompanied by an adult at all times
  • Visitation Restrictions:
    • No more than two visitors may be in a patient room at any given time.
    • Restricted Visiting Hours are in place for the Intensive Care Unit, Cardiac Care Unit and the Behavioral Health Unit.
    • Special considerations will be made on an individual basis with the patient's nurse and/or the floor nurse manager.
  • Overnight Accommodations: If there is a need for a visitor to stay overnight, please arrange for accommodations with staff.

Visitor guidelines are subject to change in order to meet health, safety, or other emergency needs. Any and all such changes will be clearly communicated to visitors at the Information Desk.

Semi-Private Room Considerations

Being in a semi-private room requires additional sensitivity to respect the privacy of the other patient. The following rules and expectations help to ensure the safety and privacy of all patients:

  • We may ask your family members and/or visitors to leave the room when your roommate is about to receive care, or to allow a sensitive discussion to take place.
  • We may ask your family members to use a different area to sleep, for example the lounge.
  • We expect family members and visitors to be sensitive to the volume of their conversations and maintain a low level of noise.
  • Family members and visitors should use the public restrooms rather than the bathroom located in your room.
